Biomechanical and gait assessment
A biomechanical and gait assessment is a detailed evaluation of how the feet, ankles and lower limbs move and function during standing, walking and running. Podiatrists assess joint movement, muscle strength, alignment and foot posture, as well as how the entire lower limb works together during movement.
- Assessment Methods
These assessments help identify abnormal movement patterns or biomechanical factors that may contribute to pain, injury or reduced performance. The information gathered allows the podiatrist to develop an individualised treatment plan, which may include footwear advice, strengthening exercises, or custom orthotic therapy to improve function and reduce strain on the feet and lower limbs.
